Alan-1 Inc. has been engineering original arcade cabinets and gaming experiences since 2017, operating out of their own privately owned manufacturing facility in Tooele, Utah, which they call Area 52.

Four Players, One Arena: The Core Case for the Deluxe

Four simultaneous players in a single shared arena is what separates the Deluxe from every other configuration in the Avian Knights line. The 2-player Pro and Pro+ are excellent machines, but at two players the game is a duel. At four players it becomes a spectacle.

With four knights competing and cooperating at once, every moment in the arena is contested. Weapon pickups become scrums. The egg mechanic, described in full below, turns from a tactical option into a genuine four-way scramble. Bystanders crowd around and get in line.

For operators buying on earnings per square foot, four players per cycle is the straightforward revenue argument.

The Deluxe clears queues rather than building them, and the MLeS app brings those players back to your specific venue by name when someone beats their score.

The Egg Mechanic: The Game's Signature Idea at Full Force

Lay an egg while your bird is still alive, because a dead bird cannot lay one. If your bird is killed in combat, the egg hatches a new mount, and whoever reaches that loose egg first can claim it and fly again.

On a 2-player cabinet this is a clever tactical wrinkle. On a 4-player cabinet with three other knights competing for the same egg across a platform-filled arena, it becomes the most contested moment in the game. Players shout. Spectators react. The mechanic earns its keep every single round.

This is the single strongest argument for choosing the Deluxe over the smaller models. The egg scramble with four knights is a different experience entirely, and it is one the floor will feel.

256 Waves, the Hall of Champions, and a One-of-a-Kind Comic Book

Avian Knights runs 256 waves of escalating enemy knights, arena bosses and environmental hazards across floating platforms, barriers and lava. Players must survive all 256 to be crowned Avian Knights Champion.

Any player who clears the final wave earns a rare place in the game's Hall of Champions. Alan-1 then produces a one-of-a-kind comic book featuring that player as a knight in the Avian Knights universe, a reward that has no equivalent in any other arcade title on the market.

In a crowded amusement floor, the Hall of Champions is a conversation piece that operators can point to. Players who know the reward exists will return repeatedly to chase it, and the MLeS app makes sure they know when they are close.

The Weapon System: Knight Weapons and Bird Weapons

Each player chooses from a roster of knight weapons, all upgradeable three times by collecting power-up symbols on the arena floor.

The Jousting Stick offers wide reach at max upgrade. The Bow and Arrow rewards precise aiming at range.

The Mace is effective against armour and can be thrown. The Sword delivers a wide slashing arc.

The Spiked Helmet lets you kill from below. Vibranium is a throwing weapon that returns to the user after each throw.

Bird weapons are separate pickups: Lightning Bolt, Poison Gas that leaves a killing cloud on the arena surface, Fire Breath, and Laser, a rare precision beam that travels straight across the screen. Managing both a knight weapon and a bird weapon simultaneously is what gives the game its depth.

Upgrades shift the balance but they do not make any player untouchable. A fully upgraded opponent is dangerous, not invincible, and that is a deliberate design choice that keeps all four players in contention until the last wave.

Physical Cabinet Toys: Wind, Rumble, and the Knocker

Each of the four control stations includes three physical feedback systems: a fan that pushes air at the player when they press the flap button, force feedback rumble motors built into the control deck, and a pinball-style cabinet knocker that fires when a player earns an extra life or is killed.

These are not cosmetic additions. They translate the on-screen action into something the player's body feels, which is what separates a dedicated arcade cabinet from a monitor on a stick.

The knocker in particular is a proven crowd-drawing mechanism borrowed from pinball design, and on a 4-player machine it fires often enough to become part of the ambient energy of the room.

On a busy floor, the sensory experience of an Avian Knights Deluxe in operation is noticeable from across the room.

Hand-Crafted Comic Book Art Across the Entire Cabinet

Every surface of the Avian Knights Deluxe carries hand-crafted comic book art created by Alan-1's own professional artist, the same artist who drew and inked the official Avian Knights comic book series, available separately as a physical print edition.

The illustration covers the cabinet from the illuminated marquee at the top to the lower cabinet panels, with the knight characters and arena imagery rendered in full colour.

Alan-1 applies this art as printed vinyl over a raw wooden cabinet, assembled with Raffish cam and screw fittings and edged with RGB LED T-molding. The result is a cabinet that reads as designed, not decorated.

55-Inch HD Display and RGB LED T-Molding

The Deluxe carries a 55-inch HD display in landscape orientation, the largest screen in the Avian Knights line. At four players across a 51.5-inch-wide cabinet, this gives every player a clear view of the full arena without crowding the sightlines.

RGB LED T-molding runs around the full perimeter of the cabinet and is standard on the Deluxe, just like on the Pro+. 

Operators can set the molding to any of twelve specific solid colours including Electric Blue, Neon Green, Crimson Red, Magenta, Turquoise, Violet, Amber, Electric Pink, Sunset Orange, Lime Green, Sky Blue and Purple, or leave it cycling through them automatically.

Under bar or venue lighting, this level of control makes the cabinet visible without being intrusive.

Four Control Stations: Joystick, Three Buttons, Colour-Coded by Player

Each of the four stations centres on the Alan-1 Arcade Stick joystick paired with three D-LED illuminated pushbuttons: Bird Attack, Jump and Flap, and Lay Egg and Throw.

The buttons are colour-coded per player station, so in a busy four-player session each player always knows their own controls at a glance.

The Alan-1 Video Arcade System drives all controls and lighting through the custom 800 i/oT input and output board, which is the four-player member of Alan-1's board family. 

Major League eSports: Free Connected Play with No Subscription

Major League eSports, known as MLeS, is Alan-1's own free mobile platform available on Android and iOS. Players scan the QR code shown on the cabinet screen to create a free account and log into the game. Their scores, League Points and achievements are tracked automatically from that point forward.

The platform provides global leaderboards, in-app tournaments with Alan-1's Championship structure, the ability to find the nearest Avian Knights machine, and push notifications sent by name to players whenever someone beats their score, including the name of the venue where the new score was set. That notification is an unpaid advertisement driving a named customer back to a specific location.

An annual MLeS World Championship is held every January in Utah, where the best players across all Alan-1 titles compete for cash and recognition. There is no subscription fee for operators or players. Internet connectivity over wired Ethernet or built-in WiFi is genuinely free and comes configured through the Alan-1 Game Grid app.

The Alan-1 Game Grid Operator App

The Game Grid app is the separate free operator platform on Android and iOS. Registering the cabinet through Game Grid is required to connect the machine to the internet, and registration must be completed within 15 days of delivery to obtain full warranty coverage. Do not skip this step.

Game Grid provides over-the-air software updates, remote technical alerts, game audit data, weekly tournament configuration and a complete list of every MLeS player who has played the machine.

Operators can message those players directly through the platform. Alan-1 also provides a free first advertising run on the platform at no cost to the operator.

The player messaging tool is a direct marketing channel that no other amusement system in this category provides for free.

Coin and Cashless Payment: Two Coin Doors, Card Ready, eTicket Supported

The Deluxe ships with two coin doors, one on the left and one on the right of the lower cabinet, each fitted with a coin mechanism preset to 25 cents with a default of four coins per credit.

Both settings are fully adjustable through the operator menu, and free play is a single toggle, which makes the cabinet equally suitable for a home game room running on free play or a commercial venue on paid credits.

The cabinet is UCL standard compatible, with one 9-pin UCL connector per player station and four connectors total on the Deluxe. This supplies power, ground, credit and ticket signals to cashless card readers.

Alan-1 recommends mounting card readers on the coin doors. A bill validator installation harness ships inside the coin box area for operators who want to add a note acceptor.

eTicket redemption through a cashless card system is the supported path. Four ticket dispenser signal amplifiers ship with the cabinet, one per player station, which means a physical mechanical or digital dispenser can be interfaced if the operator chooses to add one. 

Revenue Opportunity: Four Players Per Cycle on a Single Cabinet Footprint

The Deluxe occupies 51.5 inches of width and 29.5 inches of depth. At 525 pounds it is a fixed installation, but the footprint is compact relative to what it delivers: four simultaneous paid credits per game cycle, with MLeS push notifications driving named repeat visits to your location.

For family entertainment centres and destination venues, the calculation is straightforward. A single 4-player cycle at default pricing generates four times the per-cycle revenue of a 1-player machine in the same footprint.

The social visibility of four players competing in a single arena also attracts bystander attention that drives queue formation organically.

POKEY Mode is an operator-accessible setting that switches the in-game music to reflect the sound of the Atari POKEY chip used in Atari 8-bit computers, a detail that lands immediately with retro gaming audiences and gives operators a talking point for older patrons. It is a single toggle in the operator menu.

Avian Knights Model Comparison

All three Avian Knights cabinets run the identical game: the same 256 waves, the same four physical toys, the same 2.1-channel audio system, the same joystick and three-button layout per station, and the same free MLeS connectivity. The choice between models is about player count and floor space, not features.

Assembly

The Avian Knights Deluxe ships fully assembled. There is no cabinet construction required on site. Alan-1 builds and closes every unit at Area 52 before it leaves the factory.

On delivery, the cabinet arrives wrapped in protective plastic and foam layers around the VAS artwork panels. These protective layers are removed before the machine is placed in service. The cabinet powers on from a standard 110 to 120 VAC outlet and connects to your network via the included WiFi antenna or a CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable supplied by the operator.

Once powered on, register the cabinet through the Alan-1 Game Grid app immediately. Registration must be completed within 15 days of delivery to obtain full warranty coverage. Network configuration, game settings and lighting options are all accessed through the operator menu and the Game Grid app. No printed manual is published for the Deluxe model at this time.
