The Alan-1 Avian Knights Pro, where original arcade heritage meets modern competitive play. This is a genuinely new game in a market flooded with licensed re-releases and retro ports, a two-player co-op title built from the ground up at Alan-1's Area 52 factory in Tooele, Utah, by hand, one cabinet at a time.
Crafted for arcade operators who want something the room next door does not have, and equally at home in a private game room running on free play, the Avian Knights Pro delivers hand-drawn comic book art, four synced physical effects, and a live global tournament ecosystem at no subscription cost.
This cabinet also comes in a Pro+ and a Deluxe variants

About the Manufacturer Alan-1, Inc.
Alan-1 has been engineering licensed arcade cabinets from its factory in Tooele, Utah since 2017. The company works directly with IP holders including Atari to produce genuine, original arcade releases rather than licensed skins over generic hardware.

Alan-1's custom Video Arcade System and 400 i/oT input-output board are designed and built in-house, and every cabinet carries an ETL listing for the United States and Canada. Owning an Alan-1 machine means owning a piece of American arcade manufacturing at a moment when almost none of it is left.
An Original Arcade Game Built on a Classic Idea
Avian Knights is Alan-1's first original intellectual property, and its second arcade title. It first appeared at Amusement Expo 2023 in Las Vegas, where it drew immediate attention from an industry hungry for new competitive multiplayer content.
The game sits in the lineage of Williams' Joust and Atari Games' Gauntlet, those co-operative wave-based battles that kept quarters flowing for decades. Avian Knights does not copy either title. It takes the core idea, mount a knight on a flying bird and fight for survival, and builds something modern and mechanically deeper around it.
256 Waves, One Champion, One Comic Book
A Long Play of Avian Knight:
The game runs 256 waves of increasingly dangerous enemies, bosses and arena hazards across platforms, barriers and lava fields. Two players fight together in co-op, or a solo player can take on the full run alone.
Clear every wave and you earn a place in the Hall of Champions. Alan-1 then produces a one-of-a-kind comic book featuring that player as a knight within the Avian Knights universe. No two books are alike, and very few people will ever earn one.
That reward turns the high score chase into something worth talking about. Players will return specifically to be the one who clears wave 256, and that conversation drives foot traffic in a way a simple leaderboard cannot.
The Egg Mechanic: Strategy Hidden in a Simple Button
The third button lays an egg. Press it while your bird is alive, because a dead bird cannot produce one. If your bird is killed, that egg hatches a replacement mount. Whoever reaches the loose egg first, you or your opponent, gets to fly again.

That single mechanic separates Avian Knights from any Joust comparison. Forward planning keeps you in the air. Losing focus means your partner claims your egg and leaves you on foot, still able to fight and jump, but grounded until the next one appears.
On foot, a dismounted knight can still attack and high-jump across the arena. It is not an automatic death sentence. It is a gear shift that rewards players who have learned the controls, which is exactly the kind of depth that keeps a machine earning long after the novelty wears off.
Eight Knight Weapons and Four Bird Weapons
Each player picks up and upgrades weapons across the run. Knight weapons include the Jousting Stick, Bow and Arrow, Mace, Sword, Spiked Helmet and Vibranium. Bird weapons, collected separately, include Lightning Bolt, Poison Gas, Fire Breath and a rare Laser that fires a precision beam straight across the screen.
Every weapon upgrades three times. A fully upgraded Jousting Stick has great reach. The Vibranium returns to the thrower like a boomerang. The Mace hits hard against armoured enemies and can be thrown. Each tool rewards a different playstyle.
Upgrades improve your odds but do not make you invincible. A careless upgraded knight dies just as finally as a beginner one, which is the point. The skill ceiling stays high enough that even experienced players have something to master.

Four Physical Effects Synced to the Game
The Avian Knights Pro ships with four hardware toys built into the cabinet, all wired to in-game events. Alan-1 calls them toys, and they are standard on every Pro cabinet.
A pinball-style solenoid knocker strikes the cabinet body when a player earns an extra life or dies. Two shaker motors, one small and one large, fire at different intensities for different moments in the game. Two centrifugal fans blow air onto the player's hands when the flap button is pressed, simulating the wind of actual flight.
These effects do what no screen can. The cabinet physically reacts to the game, and players in a venue feel and hear it from across the room. That ambient energy is a proven traffic draw, and it is the single feature a home console version of this game could never deliver.
Hand-Drawn Comic Book Art on Every Surface
Every Avian Knights cabinet carries original hand-crafted artwork by Alan-1's own professional artist, the same person who drew and inked the official Avian Knights comic books sold separately. The illustration runs across every panel, and the art avoids the flat single-tone vinyl that makes most cabinets blend into a wall.

Even the control panel carries a comic book style guide to the controls, a detail players notice and appreciate as a thoughtful touch. On a game room floor, this cabinet looks like nothing else in the room.

The printed art is part of the Alan-1 identity. It is not a licensing skin applied to a generic box. It was created specifically for this game by the same artist who built the Avian Knights world, which is a distinction worth making to buyers who care about what sits in their space.
Music-Synchronized Light Show Built In
The Pro cabinet is a lit machine. Marquee LEDs illuminate the hood and top panel, diffuser LEDs and LED strips surround the monitor and bezel, and separate lights run on the control panel, coin door and player down positions.
Every zone is individually switchable from the operator menu, and a global brightness setting runs from 20 to 100 percent.
All lighting syncs to the game's music, turning the cabinet into a visual event rather than a static box. In a dim venue or barcade, the light show makes the machine visible and active from a distance.
For operators who want the full perimeter glow, the Pro+ model adds RGB LED T-molding around the cabinet edges. The Pro uses passive purple T-molding that protects the cabinet sides without the lighting.
Every other feature, the game, the monitor, the controls, the audio and all four physical effects, is identical between the two models.
Major League eSports: Free Connected Tournaments with No Subscription

Major League eSports, known as MLeS, is Alan-1's own free mobile app on Android and iOS. Players scan the QR code on screen to create an account, then track their scores, league points, achievements and leaderboard position across every Alan-1 machine they play anywhere.
The app sends a push notification to any player whose score has been beaten, naming the venue where it happened. That notification is a direct, personalized invitation to return and reclaim the top spot. Alan-1 built the repeat-play loop directly into the platform, and it costs the operator nothing.
An annual MLeS World Championship is held every January in Utah, with cash prizes for top performers. Avian Knights played a prominent role in the second annual championship on 25 January 2025. Operators running Avian Knights are putting a machine on the floor that is already part of a live competitive circuit.
The Alan-1 Game Grid Operator App
Game Grid is the separate free operator app, also on Android and iOS. Registering the cabinet through Game Grid is required to connect the machine to the internet, and the registration must be completed within 15 days of delivery to activate full warranty coverage. That step takes a few minutes and should be done on day one.
Once registered, Game Grid delivers software updates remotely, sends technical alerts, runs game audits, sets up weekly tournaments, and provides a list of every MLeS player who has played that specific machine. Operators can message those players directly.
Internet connectivity is free. No monthly fee, no licence cost, no subscription. Alan-1 covers the first advertising run through the platform at no charge. Operators in the industry are used to paying for these features. With Avian Knights, they do not.
Revenue Features: Coin-Op, Cashless and Ticket Redemption
The Pro ships with one standard two-slot coin door. Coin mechs arrive preset to 25 cents with a default of four coins per credit, and both figures are fully adjustable through the operator menu. Free play is a single menu toggle, which makes the machine equally practical in a private game room or home setup.
Each player station carries a UCL-standard 9-pin connector supplying power, ground, credit and ticket signals, making the cabinet compatible with modern cashless card systems. Alan-1 recommends mounting card readers on the coin door and notes that Suzo Happ upper coin doors with reader cut-outs fit the cabinet well.
A bill validator installation harness ships inside the coin box. It wires a dollar bill acceptor into the coin door microswitch circuit.
Note that this harness does not carry inhibit and enable signals, though most validators can be set to always-enabled by DIP switch.
For ticket redemption, eTicket delivery through a cashless card reader is the fully supported path. Two signal amplifiers, one per player, ship with the cabinet and allow connection of a physical ticket dispenser, but physical dispensers are not covered by the warranty and are added at the operator's own risk.
Redemption mode is toggled in the operator menu, and operators can alternatively run the game purely in high score mode.
POKEY Mode: A Detail for Retro Purists
An operator setting switches the game's music to reflect the sound of the Atari POKEY chip used in Atari 8-bit computers. Toggle it on and the soundtrack shifts to that characteristic chiptuned texture that defined a generation of arcade and home computer audio.
It is a small setting. For a certain player, it is the reason the machine sounds exactly right. Operators running venues that attract a retro-minded crowd will find it a talking point worth knowing about.
Built for High Traffic, Built by Hand in the USA

Every Avian Knights Pro is built by hand at Alan-1's Area 52 factory in Tooele, Utah. The cabinet is a commercial-grade upright constructed from wood panel components, assembled with Raffix cam and screw fittings, wrapped in printed vinyl and finished with passive purple T-molding that protects the cabinet edges from daily contact.
The electronics run on Alan-1's custom Video Arcade System, paired with a 400 i/oT input-output board designed specifically for the two-player configuration.
The monitor is a 32-inch 1920x1080p HD display connected by HDMI, covered by a 35-inch protective glass panel with bezel and printed art around the edges. The glass is larger than the screen because it covers the full decorative surround.
Audio is a 2.1 channel Telstar system: a left and right speaker pair behind the speaker panel, plus an amplifier that includes the subwoofer and volume controls. The result is a machine designed to perform in a loud venue environment, not a quiet living room, though it will fill either one.

Deluxe vs. Pro and Pro+: Choosing the Right Cabinet for Your Location
Avian Knights comes in three configurations. All three run the identical game across the same 256 waves, with the same four toys, the same 2.1 channel Telstar audio with subwoofer, the same joystick and three button control layout, and the same free MLeS connectivity. The choice between them is a floor space and throughput decision, not a feature decision. The only feature that separates the Pro from the Pro+ is the RGB LED T-molding that lights the cabinet edges.

Assembly
The Avian Knights Pro ships fully assembled. No cabinet build is required. The unit arrives on a freight pallet at 335 lbs, so plan for a pallet jack or hand truck and a second person to manage the cabinet. At 29.25 inches deep, the cabinet rolls through a standard double doorway on its built-in casters.
Once the cabinet is in position, open the rear door and take a few minutes to confirm that all internal components are still properly seated after transit. Check the motherboard and power supply seating, the HDMI cable between the mainboard and the monitor, the monitor power cable, the audio amplifier power cable, the speaker cables to the upper speakers and the subwoofer, the USB cables between the mainboard and the I/O board, and the single edge connector from the I/O board to the control panel.
Before plugging in, locate the red voltage slider inside the power distribution box at the cabinet base and confirm it is set to the correct voltage for your supply. Setting it incorrectly before first power-up can damage the machine.
Remove the plastic and foam protective layers around the VAS artwork, connect to WiFi using the Alan-1 Game Grid app (or run a customer-supplied CAT5e or CAT6 cable for wired Ethernet), and register the cabinet through Game Grid within 15 days of delivery to activate full warranty coverage.
You will need a razor or blade to cut the shipping straps and a small screwdriver for the voltage slider and antenna leads.
