The Alan-1 Yars Recharged MirrorFX Arcade Cabinet: where forty years of Atari legacy meets a display technology that no home screen can replicate.

Yars' Revenge launched on the Atari 2600 in 1981 and became one of that console's best-selling titles, yet the franchise had never appeared on an arcade floor until now.

Alan-1 has changed that, building a full commercial cabinet around the 2022 console release Yars: Recharged and reworking it from the ground up for public play.

Designed for operators and serious collectors who demand a centerpiece that performs as hard as it looks, this cabinet offers two things that no other machine on the market can: the debut of an iconic franchise in its first-ever arcade form, and a MirrorFX display that produces a holographic, layered image the console version is physically incapable of delivering. It draws a crowd. It keeps players coming back. It earns its floor space.

About Alan-1

Alan-1, Inc. has been building arcade machines by hand in the United States since 2017. Every cabinet leaves their Area 52 factory in Tooele, Utah, constructed to commercial-grade standards and backed by domestic manufacturing.

alan 1 logo

What sets Alan-1 apart is the combination of American craftsmanship, cutting-edge optical engineering, and a commitment to connected competitive play through their own MLeS platform. Owning an Alan-1 cabinet means owning something built to last in the hardest-working environments the arcade industry puts in front of machines.

MirrorFX: A Holographic Optical Effect, Not a Screen Filter

MirrorFX is Alan-1's implementation of the Pepper's Ghost effect, a projection technique that uses half-silvered mirrors and strategically positioned monitors to produce a layered, holographic-style image with genuine optical depth.

It is the same principle behind the Haunted Mansion ride at Disney parks, and it powered the visuals of classic arcade cabinets including the original Space Invaders and Asteroids Deluxe.

Alan-1's version upgrades the classic technique significantly. Where earlier implementations used a single monitor, the Yars Recharged MirrorFX uses two LCD panels, and it is this dual-screen configuration that creates the three-dimensional layered look unique to this cabinet.

Glowing particle effects, vibrant colors, and dynamic animations appear to float at different depths inside the display, giving the game a sense of volume and presence that a flat screen simply cannot produce.

A Franchise Reaching Arcades for the First Time

Yars' Revenge debuted on the Atari 2600 in 1981 and spent over four decades as a home-console exclusive. The franchise has never had an arcade cabinet until this one. That is not a minor footnote: it means the Yars Recharged MirrorFX occupies a category entirely its own on any floor it stands on.

Players who remember the original will recognize the core concept immediately, a moment of recognition that drives engagement before a single quarter drops. Players who have never encountered the franchise encounter something genuinely new, a fast-paced action game with deep strategic layers and a competitive online hook that rewards return visits.

How the Game Plays

The player takes the role of a Yar, a humanoid alien fly, on a mission to destroy the Qotile Base that wiped out one of the Yar homeworlds. Controls are a dual joystick setup: the left stick moves the player, the right stick aims and fires, with a dedicated fire button on the right stick.

The Qotile Base is protected by a shield wall of hexagonal tiles. The player can shoot through those tiles to clear a path, or push directly against them to eat them, which is faster but puts the player in close range of enemy fire. Small yellow collectibles called Zorlon Energy appear during play. Collecting them charges the Zorlon Cannon, which is the only weapon capable of destroying a Qotile Base.

The Qotile Base cycles through three states: idle, targeting, and attack. The idle state allows the player to touch it for bonus Zorlon Energy, but contact while it is targeting kills the player instantly.

Once it fires and enters its attack state it is the most dangerous and the most valuable target. Scoring rewards the risk: hitting the Qotile while it targets scores more than hitting it idle, and hitting it mid-attack scores the most. Levels are called Hives, and some contain more than one Qotile Base.

The arcade edition runs to 128 Hives, which is a long game by any measure and gives a serious player something to work at over months rather than an afternoon. Reaching and completing Hive 128 unlocks an ending that does not exist in the console version, so the arcade cabinet holds something no home copy can show you.

Major League eSports Integration, Included at No Extra Cost

MLES Shield RGB rev logo

Every Yars Recharged MirrorFX cabinet ships with full Major League eSports (MLeS) integration built in, at no additional cost and with no subscription or monthly fee. The moment the cabinet is powered on, it is connected to global leaderboards, daily tournaments, achievements, and Alan-1's annual MLeS World Championships.

Players create a free Alan-1 account and download the MLeS app to unlock the full competitive experience. The app lets players track personal high scores, earn league points, form teams, enter tournaments, and continue where they left off on a different cabinet. Every game played contributes to ranking, so repeat play has a tangible competitive purpose beyond chasing a local high score.

For operators, this matters because it converts casual visitors into returning players. A player who is mid-tournament, chasing a ranking, or one session away from a milestone has a reason to walk back in. MLeS delivers that hook without any ongoing cost to the operator.

Built for Commercial Revenue

The Yars Recharged MirrorFX is a coin-operated commercial arcade cabinet, engineered for high-traffic public use. At 380 lbs and manufactured in the USA to Alan-1's own commercial-grade standards, it is built to handle the demands of daily play in arcades, bars, family entertainment centers, and entertainment venues without requiring constant attention.

Optional ticket redemption support is available, which expands the cabinet's revenue profile beyond straight coin-op play. For operators looking to maximize return on floor space, the MLeS tournament structure actively drives repeat visits, extending the earning window of each player relationship rather than treating every session as a one-time transaction.

The MirrorFX display itself functions as passive marketing. A cabinet that generates a crowd of onlookers around it is a cabinet that sells itself to the next player in line.

Commercial-Grade Construction

The cabinet is a full-size upright in black, measuring 86 inches tall, 52 inches wide, and 48 inches deep. That footprint is intentional: this is a presence piece designed to anchor a floor, not a compact unit tucked into a corner. The substantial build at 380 lbs reflects construction materials and optical hardware spec'd for longevity under continuous public use.

Every unit arrives fully assembled. The dual-LCD MirrorFX optical system is calibrated at the factory, so there is no on-site alignment required beyond placement and power.

Free Shipping

Your Alan-1 arcade machine ships with free curbside freight delivery to the 48 contiguous United States, with no hidden charges added at checkout.

Machines travel as LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight, crated on a pallet, with lift-gate service included. The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery appointment, so you will not be caught out. Delivery is to the curb, and you take it from there.

Plan Your Access Before You Order

Alan-1 cabinets are large commercial machines, and the bigger models will not fit through a standard single doorway. Measure your delivery route before ordering, including door widths, corridor turns and ceiling height. Some cabinets stand over eight feet tall once assembled.

We recommend at least two people, and sometimes 4 people to uncrate and position a standard upright, and four people for the larger redemption cabinets. Several models also arrive with the header and marquee detached, which are fitted on site.

White Glove Delivery

White Glove Delivery is available as a paid upgrade at checkout. A professional team brings the machine into your room of choice, assembles it and leaves it ready to play. On the larger cabinets this is worth serious consideration.

Why Buy From Us

Here's why buying your Alan-1 arcade machine from us is the right move:

  • Free Shipping: Free curbside freight delivery with lift-gate service to the 48 contiguous states, with no hidden charges.
  • No Sales Tax: We do not charge sales tax in most states, which is a genuine saving on a machine at this price point.
  • Manufacturer-Backed Warranty: Every new Alan-1 machine carries the Alan-1 Limited Warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, and we guide you through any claim.
  • Warranty and Parts Assistance: We coordinate directly with Alan-1 on your behalf for warranty service and replacement parts, so you are not left chasing a manufacturer alone.
  • Price Match Guarantee: Find the same machine for less and we will match it, one hundred percent.
  • Expert Guidance: These are commercial machines with real installation requirements. We help you choose the right configuration for your space before you commit.
Warranty

All new Alan-1 arcade machines purchased through our store are covered by the Alan-1 Limited Warranty, which runs for 90 days from the date of delivery.

Warranty Coverage

Alan-1 warrants the machine free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal, intended use. Coverage includes the cabinet body, control deck, wiring harnesses, power supply, Alan-1 supplied PCB and logic boards, Alan-1 installed buttons and joysticks, and the internal speakers.

Alan-1 will repair the unit, replace it with new or refurbished parts, or refund the purchase price less shipping, at their option. Warranty service is parts and bench only. On-site service, technician travel, and removal or reinstallation of the machine are not covered.

Register Your Machine Within 15 Days

This one matters. Alan-1 requires the cabinet to be registered through the free Alan-1 Operators app within 15 days of receipt to receive full warranty coverage. Registration is free, takes a few minutes, and also connects the machine to the internet for software updates. Do this as soon as your machine arrives.

Dead on Arrival

If a machine fails to power on or arrives non-functional, it must be reported within 15 calendar days of delivery with photographs and a description of the fault. On a confirmed DOA, Alan-1 covers two-way shipping within the continental United States.

What's Not Covered

  • Wear and consumable items, including bulbs, LEDs, fuses, T-molding scuffs and artwork scratches
  • Labour for installation or on-site service, and technician travel
  • Improper installation or setup, including incorrect wiring, over-voltage, ungrounded outlets or non-approved power strips
  • Modifications, third-party firmware, or non-Alan-1 parts. Modifying the i/oT board or any Video Arcade System component voids the warranty
  • Misuse, abuse and neglect, including liquid ingress, impacts, outdoor exposure and extreme temperatures
  • Shipping damage after delivery, and transit damage not noted at the point of delivery
  • Network or connectivity issues, and any claim for lost operator revenue

Inspect Before You Sign

Alan-1 is emphatic on this point: if the cabinet arrives damaged, do not sign for it. Signing transfers responsibility for the repair costs to you. Note any damage on the driver's paperwork, photograph it, and contact us immediately. Concealed damage must be reported within 48 hours with photographs, and the original packaging kept.

How to Request Warranty Service

Contact our Customer Service Team first. We help troubleshoot the fault and open a claim with Alan-1 on your behalf. Claims require the order number, product name, serial number and delivery date, along with photographs or video of the defect. Alan-1 may provide remote troubleshooting, and where service is approved they issue an RMA with packing instructions.

Our Commitment

We act as your connection with Alan-1. If something goes wrong, you deal with us and we handle the manufacturer, so the problem gets resolved as quickly as possible.

Returns

Alan-1 machines may be returned within 30 calendar days of delivery, subject to the conditions below. Because these are large freight items, please read this carefully before ordering.

Before You Return Anything

An RMA must be obtained before shipping anything back. Contact our Customer Service Team and we will arrange it. Returns must be shipped within 15 days of the RMA being issued, and the machine must be in new or like-new condition with all accessories, cables, manuals and the original packaging.

Restocking Fees Apply

A restocking fee of 15 percent of the item price typically applies, rising to 25 percent for opened electronics that remain sellable after inspection. Missing or damaged accessories are deducted at replacement cost, and original shipping charges are non-refundable.

Items That Cannot Be Returned

  • Custom or made-to-order cabinets, special finishes, personalised graphics and vinyls
  • Opened electronic boards or items with broken seals, except a verified DOA within 15 days
  • Software and digital licences
  • Clearance and "as-is" final sale items
  • Anything damaged by improper installation, misuse or modification

Freight Returns

For a cabinet return you are responsible for proper palletising and packaging to prevent transit damage, and the freight must be insured for the full value. Risk of loss stays with you until the machine is received and inspected. Mark the RMA number clearly on the outside of the pallet and use a trackable, insured carrier.

If We Got It Wrong

If a machine arrives dead on arrival or we shipped the wrong item, contact us within 15 days. In those cases return shipping and reshipment are covered within the continental United States, with no restocking fee.

Refunds

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 7 to 10 business days of inspection. Your bank or card processor may take additional time to post the credit.

Our Commitment

Your satisfaction is our priority. If something is not right, talk to us before starting a return. In most cases a replacement part or a warranty claim solves the problem faster and at no cost to you.
